"Amaranth" derives from Greek ἀμάραντος (amarantos), "unfading," with the Greek word for "flower," ἄνθος (anthos), factoring into the word's development as "amaranth." The more accurate "amarant" is an archaic variant.

Amaranth is another one of my coloured servers. It serves as an API server for chemistry lessons application I'm working on with my colleagues. If everything goes to plan, Android and Windows apps with the lessons will be released by February 2016.
